The Farm Bakery & Events Wedding

It’s taken five years of officiating weddings in eastern Pennsylvania, but I finally officiated a wedding at The Farm Bakery & Events in Quakertown.  Not only was the wait worth it, but I was lucky enough to work at this amazing venue twice during the late summer/early fall wedding season.  In my initial meetings with couples, I like to find out what drew them to the venue they chose.  The two couples who booked me for their weddings at The Farm Bakery mentioned the elegance of both its indoor and outdoor spaces, the sense of openness that encouraged them to wander the grounds, and the natural beauty of farmland and woods that this venue boasts.

Both couples added that they felt truly welcomed and taken care of by The Farm Bakery’s staff.  I was treated to the same warmth and welcome.  When venue coordinator Stephanie learned it was my first time officiating there, she graciously gave me a tour of the Seed Barn and Harvest Barn and familiarized me with the spaces.  It told me a great deal about The Farm Bakery that in the hour leading up to the beginning of the ceremony, all the details were well enough in hand that she took this time with me.  I knew right away that The Farm Bakery and Events had a solid team of professionals on staff.  The venue also has conveniently situated private areas that allow the couple to each hide away with their own attendants prior to the ceremony.

Tessa and Caleb’s Farm Bakery and Events wedding stood out for me in so many ways.  This couple made it clear that they valued connection and very much wanted to have a truly intimate atmosphere with their guests. We set the tone for that at their physical rehearsal the day before, and by a graciously worded request to the guests that ensured an unplugged ceremony so that everyone could be genuinely present.

Aside from the high standards of the venue staff, they assembled a remarkable team of wedding professionals.  I overheard one venue staff member saying that the flowers being arranged in the Seed Barn were so beautiful they made her cry.  This is not the kind of thing one commonly hears from seasoned wedding pros.  When I went to look for myself, I understood.  Holly, of Froggy’s Garden Flowers, was putting the finishing touches on the wedding cake florals and table settings.  They truly were stunning, perfectly reflecting the season, and complementing the rustic beauty of the space.

I must also give proper respect to the Elysium Quartet, which provided live music during the ceremony.  I take pains to make sure that DJs or live musicians providing music during a wedding ceremony have all the information they need, so that they can fade music in and out at the right moments and know when to play which song.  I see it as a mark of professionalism when a DJ or live musician understands that they play a critical role not just in the entertainment of the reception, but also in the ceremony.  Elysium Quartet didn’t merely play well – and they really did play well.  They were also highly attuned to the flow of the ceremony – I never had to try to catch their eyes to signal them.  They were right there with me at every beat: tapering off the music so I could announce the entrance of the bride, and adjusting their playing time perfectly to match the timing of the Processional.

As for the professionals Tess and Caleb chose to capture lasting images of their Farm Bakery and Events wedding, of course I had to wait and see.  But I think the pictures that Hand and Arrow Photography are graciously allowing me to use here, and the video by Little Kings Media speak for themselves.

In our first meeting, Tessa & Caleb told me they were drawn to The Farm Bakery and Events because it had both indoor and outdoor spaces that are beautiful. They also loved the combination of outdoorsy-ness and elegance. They asked for a wedding ceremony that engaged their guests and felt intimate, personal, and uplifting, with just a little laughter. As we worked our way through multiple drafts, I told the story of how they met with a touch of humor, and they prepared very moving personal vows to exchange. They truly made the ceremony their own by including their adorable dog, Hobbes, as their Ring Bearer. They also invited two of their wedding attendants to give meaningful readings. During their ceremony, there wasn’t a dry eye as Tessa read her personal vows.  And lastly, after they pledged their love to one another, they in turn received a pledge of support from all their loved ones who witnessed their vows.

Reading during the wedding ceremony

It was important to me to include this moment in their ceremony.  Tessa and Caleb had told me how much they prioritized their relationships with their families and friends.  And Tessa recalled an especially moving time in her past when she experienced “an outpouring of love and affection” from those who cared about her.  I wanted their ceremony to echo that moment, and for both Caleb and Tessa to truly feel the love that was gathered around them in celebration that day.

Congratulations to this lovely couple!  It was truly wonderful to be a part of your Farm Bakery and Events wedding day!
